Job Summary
Intrepid Potash is seeking a Process Control Specialist to serve as the onsite subject-matter expert for PLC and DeltaV systems in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

This role is responsible for coordinating PLC/HMI programming, DCS design, programming, and troubleshooting, with emphasis on DeltaV systems. The Process Control Specialist supports plant automation, controls logic, instrumentation, electrical controls, and power systems to help ensure efficient plant and pumping station operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot plant issues related to PLCs and controls logic
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus and replace damaged wires and cables
  • Integrate and simulate equipment including solenoid valves, servo valves, electromechanical actuators, pressure transducers, RTDs, thermocouples, and scale integrators
  • Design electrical controls and electrical power systems
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure plant and pumping station operations run efficiently
  • Apply working knowledge of plant automation and electrical systems
  • Support Allen-Bradley ControlLogix processors, Ethernet, fiber optic systems, Wonderware HMI programming, VFDs, PID controllers, and power distribution systems
  • Coordinate PLC/HMI programming and DCS design, programming, and troubleshooting
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, electrical troubleshooting and repair, PLCs, and instrumentation
  • Fluent understanding of 3-phase power supply, feeders, and current limiting devices
  • Experience with PLC/HMI programming and DCS systems
  • Experience with DeltaV systems preferred
  • Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley ControlLogix processors, Ethernet, fiber optic systems, Wonderware HMI programming, VFDs, PID controllers, and power distribution
  • Valid driver’s license required

Physical Requirements

  • Work outdoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment subject to weather conditions and indoors in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Potential exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
  • Wear safety attire and personal protective equipment when applicable
  • Sit, talk, and hear for more than two-thirds of work time
  • Stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, and stoop for one-third to two-thirds of work time
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts and high or precarious places
  • Pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test required
