Job Summary
Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support electrical engineering projects at its Safford operations in Arizona. This role provides technical guidance across electrical projects, maintenance, site planning, construction, expansion, and operational improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice and guidance for all phases of electrical engineering projects.
  • Develop electrical engineering projects using new technology to improve safety, efficiency, cost control, quality control, and environmental protection.
  • Review, investigate, and develop recommendations for assigned engineering projects.
  • Manage maintenance and project work while serving as a subject matter expert on large or complex site planning, construction, expansion, or modification projects.
  • Provide guidance to site management on applicable processes, practices, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas.
  • Develop and evaluate Authorization for Expenditure requests for capital funding.
  • Evaluate and administer vendor contracts for services and equipment when required.
  • Represent the site on company-sponsored committees, task forces, or teams when needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline and five years of related engineering experience; or
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline and three years of related engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience with electronics, PLCs, radio communications, and control systems.
  • Broad knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, with an understanding of mechanical and process engineering techniques.
  • Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions.
  • Experience managing large or complex engineering projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement.
  • Ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Advanced degree or Professional Engineering certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
  • Candidates must pass all required training and testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, including shift work, in a 24/7 operation.
  • Pre-employment drug testing and ongoing drug and alcohol testing may be required, as allowed by applicable laws.
