Job Summary
SRK Consulting is seeking a Mining / Ventilation Engineer to provide advisory and technical support for mine ventilation design, optimization, safety, and regulatory compliance.

This role supports ventilation studies, audits, due diligence reviews, feasibility studies, operational improvement projects, ventilation modeling, site surveys, and client-facing technical consulting for mining projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advisory services to clients on mine ventilation design, optimization, and safety best practices
  • Lead and support technical studies, audits, and due diligence reviews related to ventilation and air quality
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for clients and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on feasibility studies, operational improvements, and expansion projects
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal writing and client relationship management
  • Design and evaluate mine ventilation systems for underground and/or surface operations
  • Develop and analyze ventilation models using industry-standard software such as Ventsim or Ventgraph
  • Conduct site visits to perform ventilation surveys, airflow measurements, and system assessments
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to dust, diesel emissions, heat stress, and hazardous gases
  • Recommend and support implementation of ventilation improvements and infrastructure upgrades
  • Advise clients on compliance with applicable health and safety regulations, including MSHA, OSHA, and international standards
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and incident reviews related to ventilation and mine safety
  • Develop and review safety procedures, ventilation management plans, and emergency response strategies
  • Support audits and inspections with actionable recommendations to improve safety performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in mine ventilation and/or mine safety
  • Consulting experience preferred
  • Proficiency with ventilation modeling software
  • Strong understanding of mine safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain in the future preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to conduct site visits for ventilation surveys, airflow measurements, and system assessments
  • Ability to support field evaluations in underground and/or surface mining environments as required
  • Ability to travel for client projects, audits, inspections, and fieldwork as needed
