Job Summary
Intrepid Potash is seeking a Mine Surveyor to support engineering and operations teams at its New Mexico East location.

This role is responsible for performing underground and surface surveying functions, maintaining survey data, creating and updating mine maps, supporting engineering and construction projects, and ensuring accurate field measurements for operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and utilize advanced surveying procedures
  • Perform closed-loop traverses using a level, theodolite, or Total Station
  • Create and update mine panel maps, belt conveyor maps, escape maps, and other operational maps
  • Conduct volume and quantity surveys on stockpiles and product storage warehouses
  • Perform land, boundary, construction layout, and location validation surveys
  • Survey and record field measurements related to inventory, engineering, and construction project work
  • Prepare survey data, plots, maps, charts, records, and related documents
  • Search archives for survey, construction design, and as-built records relevant to ongoing work
  • Assist in preparing descriptive narratives and tables for project scopes of work and bid documents
  • Maintain surface and underground control survey databases
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Minimum of 2 years of underground or surface surveying experience required
  • Drafting skills to upload survey measurements into computer systems and create drawings and maps
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Carlson Suite
  • Working knowledge of standard world coordinate systems, geoids, datums, and local system translation or conversion preferred
  • Experience with hand-held power tools required
  • Experience operating 4-wheel drive vehicles required

Physical Requirements

  • Work in an underground mining environment that may be low-height and not well lit
  • Exposure to louder-than-moderate noise from vehicles, machinery, and mining equipment
  • Wear safety attire and personal protective equipment at all times
  • Stand, walk, sit while driving, squat, twist, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, and grasp as required
  • Make visual inspections and precise hand and finger movements
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 50 lbs. as needed
  • Ability to perceive color differences
  • Pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test required
