Job Summary
Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Senior Supervisor Accounting to support its Safford operations in Arizona. This role supervises accounting-related work, supports budgeting and administration, resolves day-to-day operational questions, and helps ensure safe and efficient execution within an assigned work unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and control the safe and efficient operation of an assigned work unit.
  • Ensure continued operations through execution of plans and schedules.
  • Provide operational input for planning and coordination activities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and operating procedures and compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Inspect assigned work units to ensure schedules and objectives are achieved.
  • Coordinate daily with operational and staff areas, including maintenance, processing, engineering, safety, environmental, and sales teams.
  • Directly supervise first-line or shift supervisors.
  • Support budget preparation, monitoring, and administration.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED and nine years of professional accounting experience, including two years of prolonged intellectual instruction in accounting or finance; or
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related area and seven years of professional accounting experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related area and five years of related accounting experience, including supervisory or lead experience; or
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related area and three years of related accounting experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques.
  • Skill in resolving day-to-day questions and problems related to equipment, materials, methods, and procedures.
  • Experience with budget preparation, monitoring, and administration.
  • Ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions in English.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Work may be performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting with exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock risk, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, and see.
  • May occasionally lift moderately heavy objects up to 30 pounds.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when working in mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environments.
  • Pre-employment drug testing and ongoing random drug testing may be required, as allowed by applicable laws.
