Job Summary
Kinross Gold is seeking a Business Support Manager to oversee strategic, administrative, and operational functions across Kettle River Operations. Reporting to the General Manager, this role leads business support functions including Finance, IT, Supply Chain, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, procurement, controls, compliance, and administrative performance to support efficient site operations and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across IT, Supply Chain, and Finance functions.
- Manage human, financial, and operational resources while ensuring efficiency and accountability.
- Formulate annual operating and capital budgets for administrative functions in coordination with corporate Finance.
- Oversee short- and long-range budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning.
- Oversee accounting processes and systems in compliance with established policies, practices, and procedures.
- Manage regular audits and support accurate financial controls.
- Own the fiscal close process and provide timely financial, cost, and management reporting.
- Provide financial updates to corporate Finance teams and site management to support data-driven recommendations.
- Maintain control over fixed assets and ensure accurate accounting and compliance with corporate standards and tax requirements.
- Protect company assets through internal controls, internal auditing processes, and adequate insurance coverage.
- Oversee procurement practices to optimize cost, quality, reliability, and policy compliance.
- Oversee IT infrastructure and systems that support efficient and reliable business operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and applicable legal requirements.
- Drive process improvements across administrative functions to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
- Monitor and report on performance indicators across financial, IT, and supply chain operations.
- Participate as a member of the site senior management team to help establish and manage operating parameters.
- Build and develop team capabilities, including hiring, talent development, and corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Advanced education, such as a master’s degree or equivalent, preferred.
- Professional designation, such as CPA or equivalent, preferred.
- Eight or more years of progressive experience in business operations, finance, or administrative management.
- Experience within the mining or industrial sector preferred.
- Five years of proven experience managing employees and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, accounting, materials management, warehousing, and procurement.
- Familiarity with mining or industrial operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial systems, including integrated ERPs and business management software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound business decisions guided by policies and procedures.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Physical Requirements
- Work may involve interaction with active mining operations and production environments.
- Must wear personal protective equipment at all times while in the production environment.
- Must follow operating procedures and comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Must observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions.
