Job Summary
Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking an Accounting Technician to support the site finance team in Republic, Washington.
This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, supporting reconciliations, preparing routine reports, assisting with payroll and audits, and ensuring compliance with internal and external accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records, ledgers, and subsidiary journals for site operations
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Ensure timely payments to suppliers and prompt collection of receivables
- Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy prior to posting
- Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations to maintain data integrity
- Assist with payroll processing and calculation of paychecks and related deductions
- Compile and distribute reports including cost analyses, statements, invoices, and regulatory documentation
- Support audits by providing documentation and resolving discrepancies
- Implement internal controls and monitor compliance to protect company assets
- Assist with maintaining and updating accounting software or ERP systems
- Retain and organize technical and financial records for operational and industry compliance
- Respond to internal and external requests for financial documents and information
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Post-secondary coursework in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping preferred
- 3 years of related experience in accounting or bookkeeping
- Mining or industrial experience considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail, numeracy, and analytical skills
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, general ledger systems, and accounting software
- Sound understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct when handling sensitive records
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver’s license required
- Authorized to work in the United States
