Job Summary
SRK Consulting is seeking a Senior Geochemist to support geochemical studies, Acid Rock Drainage and Metal Leaching assessments, mine site water quality predictions, and environmental fieldwork related to mining environments.

This role focuses on applied geochemical modeling, large geochemical dataset analysis, technical reporting, field sampling, and environmental geochemistry support for mining and metals sector projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the geochemistry team with Acid Rock Drainage and Metal Leaching assessments of mine sites
  • Analyze large geochemical datasets and provide critical interpretation of geochemical data related to mining environments
  • Assist with mine site water quality predictions using geochemical software
  • Conduct geochemical and environmental fieldwork
  • Collect rock, soil, and water samples in field environments
  • Produce high-quality technical reports that communicate detailed geochemical information to non-specialists
  • Organize project meetings and documentation
  • Implement procedures required to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree specializing in Geology or Geochemistry
  • Higher degree involving environmental geochemistry and/or hydrogeochemistry preferred
  • Strong understanding of geochemistry, geology, and mineralogy
  • Experience analyzing large geochemical datasets, including quality control, data interpretation, and reporting
  • General knowledge of mining-related environmental issues, regulations, and policies
  • Experience using geochemical modeling software such as PHREEQC, MINTEQ, or Geochemist’s Workbench
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and critical analysis skills
  • Strong writing and communication skills, including verbal presentations and written reports
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments in a dynamic environment
  • Willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork
  • Several years of experience in applied geochemical modeling

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to undertake fieldwork on mine sites and related project areas
  • Ability to collect rock, soil, water, and mine-related environmental samples in field environments
  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork as required
