Job Summary
AngloGold Ashanti is seeking an Environmental Superintendent to lead environmental compliance, permitting, and sustainability programs for the Beatty Mining District.
This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, driving environmental performance, and integrating sustainable practices into mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement environmental management systems (EMS) to minimize environmental impact
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and permits
- Lead environmental monitoring programs (air, water, ecological impacts)
- Analyze environmental data to identify risks and improvement opportunities
- Lead environmental incident investigations and corrective actions
- Manage environmental projects, budgets, and contractor activities
- Support permitting processes, inspections, and regulatory reporting
- Deliver environmental training programs and support operational readiness
- Collaborate with internal teams and global environmental leadership
- Maintain relationships with regulators, stakeholders, and community partners
- Communicate environmental performance and compliance status to leadership
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Biology, Ecology, or related field
– 7–10 years of experience in environmental management in mining or heavy industry
Additional Experience May Include
- Experience with Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
- Strong knowledge of NEPA and regulatory permitting processes
- Experience with environmental incident investigations
- Knowledge of International Cyanide Management Code
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
