Job Summary
Intrepid Potash is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to support environmental compliance, permitting, and sustainability initiatives across mining operations in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

This role works closely with the Environmental Manager to ensure regulatory compliance, manage environmental programs, and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance inspections across air, water, and waste management programs
• Manage disposal processes for universal and hazardous waste
• Support operations in implementing environmental best practices and controls
• Maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and stakeholders
• Oversee environmental data collection, reporting, and regulatory submissions
• Prepare and review environmental permits and compliance documentation
• Lead environmental projects such as groundwater sampling and stack testing
• Manage contractors and support project execution
• Drive environmental continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field
– 5+ years of experience in environmental roles, preferably in mining or heavy industry

Additional Experience May Include

• Experience with environmental regulations (Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA)
• Knowledge of NEPA, MSHA, OSHA, and DOT requirements
• Experience with environmental permitting processes
• Strong analytical and scientific data interpretation skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and GIS tools (e.g., Google Earth)
