Job Summary
Hecla Mining Company is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to lead environmental compliance, permitting, and monitoring activities across mining operations.
This role focuses on regulatory compliance, environmental program management, and supporting safe and sustainable mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental compliance programs (air, water, wastewater, stormwater, waste)
- Manage permitting activities and regulatory reporting
- Interpret environmental regulations and assess operational impacts
- Analyze environmental data and support monitoring programs
- Oversee reclamation and environmental projects
- Coordinate with contractors and regulatory agencies
- Support environmental management systems implementation
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams
- Prepare technical reports and project updates
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
- 10+ years of environmental experience, preferably in mining or industrial operations
- Strong project management and planning skills
- Experience with environmental regulations and compliance programs
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in field and remote environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
Additional Experience May Include
- Hydrology or water management experience
- Experience with reclamation and environmental monitoring systems
- Experience working with regulatory agencies
