Job Summary
Mariana Minerals is seeking a Senior Process Controls Engineer to support the development and deployment of first-of-its-kind chemical refining processes for the critical minerals supply chain.
This role will lead equipment and plant-wide controls infrastructure and programming scopes from concept through design, installation, commissioning, ramp-up, and handover to operations, while also supporting software development for capital project execution and automated plant optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop standards for controls programming across equipment and plant systems
- Lead equipment scopes from concept and modeling validation through procurement, engineering, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and ramp-up
- Manage external equipment providers, technology licensors, and engineering companies to deliver integrated mineral refining systems
- Drive cross-functional teams of lab technicians, pilot plant engineers, process engineers, and project engineers
- Lead technical equipment scale-up and support commercialization of novel mineral refining processes
- Support hiring, mentorship, and day-to-day management of junior process engineers
- Develop technoeconomic models for new project opportunities, acquisition targets, and emerging technologies
- Prepare and present bankable engineering deliverables for project financing and due diligence reviews
- Identify, evaluate, and implement process engineering and project management software tools
- Support software and machine learning teams in automating capital project execution workflows
- Support the development of advanced plant control algorithms for automated plant optimization
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and ability to solve complex technical problems
- Experience with equipment engineering and design
- Experience with brownfield equipment modifications and upgrades
- Experience with greenfield equipment design
- Experience evaluating and optimizing operating equipment
- Experience in industrial manufacturing, large-scale mining, mineral processing, chemical production, or EPC environments
- Experience with direct or indirect leadership of engineers and technicians
- Experience managing and executing medium to large-scale capital projects above $5M
- Ability to work cross-functionally with process, project, software, machine learning, and operations teams
- Strong technical, analytical, communication, and project execution skills
