Job Summary
Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Project Geologist to support exploration programs at Turquoise Ridge in Winnemucca, Nevada.

This role leads geoscience teams in the generation, evaluation, and execution of exploration programs across multiple stages of the exploration pipeline, with a strong focus on project generation, target delineation, drilling programs, technical evaluation, reporting, permitting coordination, safety, environmental compliance, and knowledge transfer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage teams of geoscientists in the generation, evaluation, and execution of exploration programs
  • Design, plan, and oversee exploration activities focused on project generation and target delineation
  • Supervise and participate in field-based exploration programs
  • Ensure best practices in geological data collection, data management, safety, and community relations
  • Evaluate exploration properties and advanced-stage projects for Tier 1 gold and copper discovery potential
  • Collaborate with Project Generation and New Exploration Opportunities teams to assess new properties and strategic opportunities
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations in English and Spanish for site visits, progress updates, and end-of-season reviews
  • Ensure timely delivery of geological and technical data in accordance with Geoinformatics standards and systems
  • Communicate with Exploration Managers and District Geologists regarding technical support needs, project risks, and training requirements
  • Coordinate with Sustainability teams to support Health & Safety, Environmental, and Community Relations procedures
  • Ensure internal and external permits are obtained on time to support planned exploration programs
  • Promote knowledge transfer and continuous learning within the exploration team
  • Coordinate with Human Resources on recruitment, performance evaluations, development plans, mentoring, and coaching
  • Communicate community, safety, health, environmental, quality, and risk-related matters within exploration teams
  • Comply with and enforce company policies, corporate standards, and health, safety, and environmental requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geological Engineering from an accredited university required
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in metallic mineral exploration
  • International exploration experience preferred
  • Technical expertise at regional to local scales, particularly in magmatic-hydrothermal systems or orogenic gold systems
  • Experience with Carlin-type, sediment-hosted, SEDEX, or VMS deposits preferred
  • Experience planning and executing drilling campaigns, including RC and diamond drilling
  • Leadership experience managing geological teams preferred
  • Experience working with Health, Safety, Environment, Community Relations, and Permitting functions preferred
  • Experience with geological software such as Leapfrog, ArcGIS Pro, and IOgas preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced English proficiency for reporting and presentations preferred
  • Full spoken and written Spanish proficiency preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • 4×4 driving certification required
  • Strong leadership, planning, organizational, and team collaboration skills
  • Passion for mineral discovery and ability to adapt across project stages
  • Experience contributing to mineral discoveries and working from generative to advanced projects considered a strong advantage

  • Support exploration activities in remote and active project environments
  • Drive 4×4 vehicles as required for exploration work
  • Follow and enforce health, safety, environmental, and community standards
  • Support the goal of zero incidents through safe work practices
