Job Summary
Florence Copper is seeking a Geophysical Logging Technician to support wellfield, exploration, and mining activities in Florence, Arizona. This role is responsible for operating and monitoring geophysical survey equipment from a mobile data acquisition unit, supporting borehole and well logging activities, performing quality control, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate subsurface data collection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate geophysical data acquisition systems from a logging van or mobile unit.
  • Safely rig up and rig down geophysical equipment over boreholes and wells.
  • Monitor incoming survey data in real time and identify data quality issues.
  • Perform quality control checks and ensure data integrity.
  • Communicate with field crews to coordinate survey activities and track progress.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment and data acquisition issues.
  • Support setup, calibration, maintenance, and transportation of geophysical equipment.
  • Maintain accurate logs, reports, and digital records of survey activities.
  • Assist with data processing and basic interpretation of geophysical data as experience permits.
  • Follow company safety policies, environmental regulations, and site procedures.
  • Work safely and effectively in remote locations and varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to learn and operate geophysical equipment and software.
  • Basic understanding of geophysical methods and data acquisition principles preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to work extended hours in field environments as operational needs require.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with geophysical software and data acquisition systems, such as WellCAD, preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics, Geology, Earth Science, Engineering Technology, or equivalent education, technical training, and experience preferred.
  • One to three years of experience in geophysical surveying, mining, exploration, construction, surveying, or other field-based operations preferred.
  • Experience operating a geophysical logging van or similar mobile data acquisition equipment preferred.
  • Familiarity with GPS systems, survey mapping tools, and field data collection processes preferred.
  • Experience with Mount Sopris geophysical logging tools and equipment preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Work includes office work and outdoor field work in all-weather conditions.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, and climb stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must work in compliance with Florence Copper’s site safety program.
