Job Summary
Hycroft Resources & Development, LLC is seeking a Geological Technician to support the Hycroft Exploration Team at its open pit gold and silver mine near Winnemucca, Nevada.

This role assists with exploration workflows including geotechnical drill core data collection, drill core photography, core cutting, QA/QC sampling, surveying, forklift operation, equipment maintenance, general labor, data entry, file organization, and other tasks required to support the geology and exploration team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with exploration processes and workflows within the Hycroft Exploration Team
  • Support geotechnical drill core data collection
  • Perform drill core photography, core cutting, and QA/QC sampling support
  • Assist with surveying, data entry, and file organization
  • Operate forklifts and other equipment as required
  • Support equipment maintenance and general labor activities
  • Develop and practice a working knowledge of Hycroft’s safety culture
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward safe work practices
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the mine environment, procedures, products, and required attention to detail
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment
  • Perform pre-shift workplace safety inspections
  • Perform pre-operational safety inspections on vehicles or equipment operated
  • Maintain proper housekeeping standards in offices, equipment, light vehicles, and laydown yards
  • Develop the skills necessary to complete geological technician tasks
  • Maintain punctuality and regular attendance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Highly motivated and self-driven work style required
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills required
  • One year or more of experience in a mining environment preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred
  • Experience with equipment operation preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE for assigned tasks and work areas
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-driven environment
  • Strong attention to detail required

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently work in or be exposed to inclement weather conditions, including wet, cold, or hot conditions
  • Perform frequent walking, standing, and simple grasping with both hands
  • Frequently use dominant and non-dominant hands during work activities
  • Occasionally bend, squat, climb, kneel, reach, and twist
  • May be stationed at a desk using a computer for multiple hours per day
  • Lift and carry core boxes weighing between 20 and 75 pounds daily
  • Drive various vehicles as required
  • Work around equipment and machinery
  • Walk on uneven ground
  • May be exposed to excessive noise, extreme temperatures, dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals
  • Use appropriate PPE provided for assigned tasks and environments
  • Observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions
  • Follow operating procedures and comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
