Job Summary
Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead capital development projects, manage engineering teams, and support operations across aggregate facilities.

This role focuses on project execution, engineering leadership, process optimization, and ensuring efficient and reliable plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead capital development projects including process modeling, equipment specification, and project estimation
  • Manage and mentor engineering staff, including performance reviews and goal setting
  • Oversee project execution including cost tracking, scheduling, procurement, and delivery
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors for project completion
  • Support plant operations with troubleshooting and maintenance guidance
  • Drive process improvement initiatives across multiple facilities
  • Collaborate with departments such as environmental, procurement, finance, and mine planning
  • Manage departmental budgets and capital spending

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or related field
– 15+ years of experience in heavy industrial, mining, or engineering environments

  • Extensive experience in aggregate processing (crushing, screening, conveying, washing)
  • Strong structural, mechanical, and plant systems design skills
  • Knowledge of pumping, electrical, and plant automation systems
  • Experience with process flow modeling
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering software tools
  • Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license required; PE license preferred
