Job Summary
Colorado School of Mines is seeking a Data Integration Engineer to support secure data integrations, migrations, and ETL/ELT pipelines across the university’s ERP, student information system, and data warehouse.
This role is part of the Application Services team within the Information Technology Department and helps build data pipelines that automate workflows, improve system connectivity, support institutional reporting, and strengthen campus-wide data interoperability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and support secure data integrations, migrations, and ETL/ELT pipelines
- Support integrations across ERP systems, student information systems, data warehouse platforms, and new system implementations
- Analyze new systems and work with business and technical teams to develop functional and technical integration requirements
- Develop and execute data migration solutions that support business operations and historical data needs
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT solutions, application migration tools, utilities, and batch upload scripts using secure file transfer methods
- Support business data migrations for new application implementations, consolidations, and business process improvements
- Manipulate and transform large data sets to troubleshoot issues and conduct data analysis
- Develop and maintain data integrations using application connectors, API-based integrations, and secure batch upload methods
- Design changes to existing integrations to improve performance and support business needs
- Document data structures, integration flows, processes, and support procedures
- Monitor data movement between systems and data stores to maintain data integrity and timely execution
- Detect, diagnose, and resolve integration processing exceptions
- Establish and maintain alerting, notifications, and metrics related to integrations
- Partner with Information Security, Privacy, and Compliance teams to support secure access to enterprise and sensitive data
- Communicate with IRSA, application stakeholders, report writers, and data consumers regarding projects, system availability, and ticket updates
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or equivalent advanced technical training and experience required
- 3+ years of experience with integrations and application or data warehouse APIs
- 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and executing integrations in a developer or administrator role
- Experience with operational data stores, OLAP, OLTP, enterprise data warehouses, or modern ERP systems
- Experience with relational databases, data modeling, migrations, and optimizations
- Experience automating or maintaining scheduled jobs to support data uptime
- Experience designing workflows to solve business and technical problems
- Experience integrating structured and unstructured data formats including files, XML, JSON, and Excel
- Experience integrating data via API, SFTP, or browser-based file uploads
- Experience with on-prem and SaaS enterprise software, modern cloud solutions, systems, and integration strategies
- Experience with ETL tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Oracle Data Integrator, ODI, or iPaaS
- SQL coding skills required
- Strong analytical skills and experience with the complete lifecycle of enterprise projects
- Strong understanding of industry-accepted security best practices
- Knowledge of SDLC, SaaS solution implementation, and the data processing cycle
