Job Summary
Climax Molybdenum, a Freeport-McMoRan company, is seeking a Manager Accounting to plan, organize, manage, and control daily accounting and finance programs for its Henderson operations in Colorado. This role oversees accounting functions, budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, cost analysis, internal controls, and financial support for site leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct financial and accounting functions for the assigned site.
• Oversee tax activities, internal auditing, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, receipts and disbursements, general journals, fixed assets, financial statements, cost reports, and analysis.
• Ensure accounting responsibilities are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare forecasts and profit and loss statements.
• Compile and produce the annual budget, including variance analysis and cost reduction support.
• Develop, implement, and assess short- and long-term programs, goals, and objectives for the accounting department.
• Ensure accounting practices, records, controls, and decisions follow GAAP, company policy, and state and federal controls.
• Collaborate with the site management team on tactical and strategic planning.
• Support site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for accounting and other departments.
• Assist department heads with budget preparation.
• Provide site management with financial information, advice, and recommendations.
• Evaluate and contract with vendors for accounting and financial services and equipment.
• Provide leadership, work direction, and performance evaluation for accounting staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related area and seven years of broad-based accounting or reporting experience, including three years of management or leadership experience; or
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related area and five years of broad-based accounting or reporting experience, including three years of management or leadership experience.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis principles, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of state laws, regulations, and guidelines related to mining operations, auditing, purchasing, risk management, budgeting, and accounting.
• Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Experience using personal computers and associated software, including Microsoft Office applications and relational databases.
• Skill in supervising, evaluating, training, and motivating employees.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• CPA preferred.
• SAP and/or OneStream systems experience preferred.
• Mining and/or manufacturing industry experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
• Candidates must pass all required training and testing.
• Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, including shift work, in a 24/7 operation.
• Pre-employment drug testing and ongoing drug and alcohol testing may be required, as allowed by applicable laws.
