Job Summary
Alcoa is seeking an HR Business Partner to support people-focused strategies, strengthen workplace culture, and partner with leaders at its Massena, New York facility.
This role supports HR strategy, compliance, labor relations, leave administration, workforce analytics, training and development, employee relations, DEI initiatives, apprenticeship programs, and HR systems within a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, interpret, and report HR trends and metrics to support decision-making
- Administer HR policies and regulatory requirements to support compliance
- Manage leave administration processes including FMLA, PFL, STD, and Workers’ Compensation
- Provide guidance and support to employees regarding leave and HR processes
- Oversee social performance and risk management activities
- Assist with union labor relations efforts
- Lead the apprenticeship program to support growth and development of emerging talent
- Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that support a culture of belonging
- Partner with managers and employees to improve work relationships, conflict resolution, morale, productivity, and retention
- Oversee training and development programs, including planning, delivery, and evaluation of learning initiatives
- Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and labor relations
- Ensure consistent application of HR practices across the site
- Manage HR systems and transactions while ensuring data integrity and efficient HR processes
- Oversee HR compliance activities including internal and external audits
- Model Alcoa’s safety values and support a safety-first culture
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent job-related experience required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Demonstrated experience in an HR area such as compliance, leave administration, policy administration, labor relations, employee relations, or learning and development
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or comparable operational environment
- Working knowledge of employment law, labor regulations, and HR compliance preferred
- Advanced analytical and Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to interpret HR metrics and develop data-based recommendations
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to influence and partner across all levels of the organization
- Critical thinking and problem-solving capability, especially in employee relations contexts
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- High integrity, sound judgment, and proactive approach to improving HR processes and employee experience
Physical Requirements
- Primarily onsite work within an industrial manufacturing environment
- Routine presence in production areas with possible exposure to noise, extreme heat or cold, and industrial equipment
- Frequent collaboration with hourly and salaried employees working varying shifts
- Occasional schedule flexibility required to support operational priorities
