Job Summary
Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking an Operations Director to provide strategic, financial, and operational leadership for the Kettle River Operations.

Reporting to the General Manager, this role oversees site performance, manages operational resources, and leads initiatives that support safe, efficient, productive operations aligned with Kinross’ strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute short- and intermediate-term strategies to support operational growth and performance
  • Lead long-term strategy execution across mining, processing, asset management, and geology functions
  • Manage human, financial, and operational resources for site operations
  • Set priorities and allocate resources to meet business goals
  • Develop and implement business practices, policies, and systems aligned with Kinross’ strategy
  • Lead short- and long-term planning, capital and operating budgeting, engineering studies, cost studies, equipment selection, and acquisition
  • Participate in global procurement initiatives to reduce material and operating costs
  • Oversee site performance metrics, operational plans, and cost forecasts
  • Formulate annual operating and capital budgets in line with financial guidelines and business planning processes
  • Prepare business cases and reports for strategic projects and present recommendations to key stakeholders
  • Act as a change agent and project sponsor for key operational initiatives
  • Lead the Continuous Improvement program using Kinross management operating tools and systems
  • Advise senior leaders on major operational challenges and support issue resolution
  • Set performance targets and manage the performance of direct reports and operational departments
  • Build team capabilities, identify succession needs, develop high-potential talent, and support key employee growth
  • Promote and uphold health, safety, environmental, and sustainability practices across all operational activities

Qualifications

  • University degree in Mining Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field required
  • 12+ years of related work experience required
  • Experience leading teams within the mining industry desired
  • Detailed knowledge of all phases of mining
  • Strong understanding of mining, milling/processing, and maintenance integration
  • Experience developing policies and procedures related to safety, operations, and organizational development
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees and management at all levels
  • Proven leadership and decision-making capabilities in a complex mining environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of budgeting and financial reporting
  • Advanced operational knowledge of the mining industry
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Authorization to work in the United States required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an active mining and production environment
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment in production areas
  • Ability to observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions
  • Ability to follow operating procedures and comply with regulatory requirements
  • Strong commitment to safe working practices and environmental requirements
