Job Summary
Kinross Gold Corporation is seeking an Operations Readiness Manager to lead the planning and implementation of the return to operations for the Kettle River Mill and Curlew Basin Mine.

Reporting to the Project Director/General Manager, this role is responsible for developing an integrated operations readiness plan and ensuring a smooth transition between project delivery, commissioning, and long-term operations. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0}

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Operations Readiness Plan aligned with project milestones and operational objectives
  • Ensure procedures, systems, training, documentation, O&M manuals, start-up plans, and permits are in place before handover
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of operational staff
  • Establish KPIs and readiness metrics to monitor restart progress
  • Report readiness progress to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Prepare and present readiness assessments and improvement recommendations
  • Assess and inspect operations to ensure systems, equipment, and personnel are ready for operation
  • Apply best practices and lessons learned from previous operations to improve restart performance
  • Drive continuous improvement throughout restart phases
  • Deliver key operational and safety SOPs for leadership review
  • Partner with department leadership teams on schedules, retention, and employee development strategies
  • Serve as the key interface between project and operations teams
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, and Operations teams to embed operational requirements into project deliverables

Qualifications

  • University degree in Operations Management, Mining Engineering, or a related field
  • 12 years of related work experience required
  • Experience leading teams within the mining industry preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of mining, milling/processing, and maintenance functions
  • Experience leading readiness programs for brownfield restarts or major capital projects
  • Experience in operations readiness, commissioning, or production operations in complex industrial projects
  • Mining, offshore oil and gas, energy, or heavy industry experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of MSHA safety and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent stakeholder management, planning, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments with evolving project dynamics
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and leadership under pressure

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an active mining or production environment
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment in production areas
  • Ability to observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions
  • Ability to follow operating procedures and comply with regulatory requirements
  • Strong commitment to safe working practices and environmental requirements
