Job Summary
Bunker Hill Mining Corporation is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee core accounting functions and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting for Bunker Hill Mine.

This role leads month-end and year-end close activities, inventory and cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audit support, and financial reporting while serving as a key financial partner to site leadership in an active mine operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Maintain and review the general ledger to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and company policies
  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting activities, including valuation, usage analysis, and reconciliation to physical counts
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, cost reports, and detailed variance analyses
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives for mine operations
  • Ensure strong internal controls across accounting, procurement, and inventory processes
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors and support audit, compliance, and regulatory activities
  • Provide financial insight and decision support to operations, maintenance, plant, and underground mine leadership
  • Review, approve, and mentor accounting work performed by junior staff
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with site safety standards, MSHA regulations, and company policies
  • Create and prepare financial reporting as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong experience with month-end close, inventory accounting, and cost accounting
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Sage, or Pronto, including financial, inventory, procurement, and cost modules
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, reconciliations, data analysis, and reporting
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and internal control principles
  • CPA or CPA-eligible status preferred
  • Previous mine-site, manufacturing, or heavy industrial accounting experience preferred
  • Experience supporting audits and working in complex operational environments preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Site-based role in an active mine operation
  • Regular interaction with operations, warehouse, and procurement areas
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
  • May require extended hours during month-end close, year-end close, or audit periods
