Job Summary
Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Senior Geologist to lead resource estimation, geological modeling, and mine geology programs at its mining operations.

This role focuses on resource modeling, geostatistical analysis, and supporting efficient and optimal extraction of mineral resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead resource estimation and geological modeling activities
  • Oversee geological evaluation of mining and exploration projects
  • Perform reconciliation between model, mine, and mill processes
  • Support development of Ore Reserve statements (10K reporting)
  • Provide technical insights to improve mining efficiency
  • Communicate results and recommendations to management
  • Train and develop geology teams and ensure modeling consistency
  • Develop procedures and documentation for resource estimation
  • Analyze geological data and support operational decision-making

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology or related field

  • Experience in resource estimation and geological modeling
  • Strong knowledge of porphyry and skarn copper/gold systems
  • Experience with geostatistics and 3D geological modeling
  • Proficiency with geological modeling software (e.g., Vulcan)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly

Additional Experience May Include

  • Experience in open pit or underground mining operations
  • Experience in mineral resource reporting standards
  • Strong technical report writing skills
  • Ability to analyze complex geological datasets
