Job Summary
Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Senior Engineer to support engineering projects at its Morenci operations, an open-pit copper mining complex in Arizona. This role focuses on reviewing, investigating, developing, and managing engineering projects related to site planning, construction, expansion, and operational improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, investigate, and develop recommendations for assigned engineering projects.
  • Manage large and complex site planning, construction, expansion, or modification projects.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for engineering-related initiatives and project execution.
  • Provide guidance to site management on processes, practices, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas.
  • Develop and evaluate Authorization for Expenditure requests for capital funding.
  • Evaluate and administer vendor contracts for services and equipment when required.
  • Represent the site on company-sponsored committees, task forces, or project teams when needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline and five years of related engineering experience; or
  • Master’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline and three years of related engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to research and analyze complex information and draw valid conclusions.
  • Experience managing large or complex engineering projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques for operational improvement.
  • Ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Advanced degree or Professional Engineering certification preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
  • Candidates must pass all required training and testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, including shift work, in a 24/7 operation.
  • Pre-employment drug testing and ongoing drug and alcohol testing may be required, as allowed by applicable laws.
