Job Summary
Nevada Gold Mines is seeking an Open Pit Electrician to join the Open Pit Maintenance team in Carlin, Nevada.

This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems on open pit mining equipment, including electric shovels, haul trucks, high-voltage switchgear, high-voltage cables, and related electrical systems supporting surface mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair electrical systems on P&H 2800XPA/B and 4100 XPB/C electric shovels
  • Maintain and repair electrical systems on 930E and 830E Komatsu haul trucks
  • Maintain and repair electrical systems on 795F and 282 Liebherr haul trucks
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on high-voltage switchgear
  • Perform high-voltage cable repairs
  • Support miscellaneous electrical maintenance duties across open pit operations
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and components as needed
  • Use electrical blueprints, test equipment, and hand tools to complete maintenance tasks
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Two years of electrical experience in an open pit mining environment preferred
  • Industrial electrical experience preferred
  • Experience with programmable logic controls, including PLC SL504, preferred
  • Experience with motor control circuits preferred
  • Experience with high-voltage cable repairs preferred
  • Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on P&H shovels and electric haul trucks preferred
  • Ability to read electrical blueprints preferred
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment preferred
  • Ability to use basic hand tools required
  • MSHA electrical cards preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, self-manage, and stay self-motivated
  • Strong attendance and performance record

Physical Requirements

  • Work in an open pit mining maintenance environment
  • Perform electrical maintenance on heavy mobile mining equipment
  • Use hand tools, test equipment, and electrical maintenance tools
  • Perform work around high-voltage electrical systems and surface mining equipment
  • Follow site safety procedures and applicable mining electrical standards
