Job Summary
Kinross Gold is seeking a Mine Maintenance Superintendent to oversee maintenance activities for the Curlew Basin mine site. Reporting to the General Manager, this role leads mobile, fixed, and electrical maintenance functions while supporting equipment availability, reliability, cost control, safety, operational efficiency, and restart and production goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee mobile, fixed, and electrical maintenance activities at the mine site.
• Lead, develop, and grow the mine maintenance team through guidance, mentorship, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance strategies to optimize equipment availability, reliability, and utilization.
• Develop, implement, and manage preventive and corrective maintenance plans and schedules.
• Ensure the maintenance team safely achieves availability, reliability, and cost targets through effective maintenance execution.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Foster a safe and productive workplace through clear communication, efficient workflows, inspections, workplace organization, and system implementation.
• Review and approve requisitions for parts, equipment, and services to support cost-efficient procurement practices.
• Manage and maintain parts inventory, including critical spares, to minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and expenditures.
• Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety or quality.
• Manage the maintenance budget and ensure cost-effective solutions for parts, equipment, and labor.
• Ensure maintenance employees, programs, and systems support restart and production goals.
• Oversee administration of maintenance contracts.
• Manage and maintain the maintenance job progression system and ensure consistent and equitable administration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mining Engineering preferred.
• Ten or more years of maintenance experience in a mining or industrial environment.
• Five or more years of experience in a supervisory role with proven team-building skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of mining equipment and underground mining operations.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics.
• Proficiency with computer systems, including JDE and Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong leadership capabilities and ability to foster a collaborative team environment.
• High level of integrity and ethical behavior in professional interactions.
• Ability to recognize and resolve conflicts.
• Superior communication and reporting skills.
• Enthusiastic, self-driven, dynamic, and proactive attitude.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Physical Requirements

• Work supports maintenance activities in an underground mining environment.
• May involve exposure to mining equipment, maintenance areas, electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems, and production environments.
• Must follow operating procedures and comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Must support safe work practices, inspections, workplace organization, and maintenance execution standards.
