Job Summary
Intrepid Potash is seeking a Mine Operator to support underground mine production at its New Mexico East Plant in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

This role is responsible for operating and monitoring mine equipment, supporting production tasks, completing pre-shift inspections, performing basic preventative maintenance, and helping ensure safe and efficient production of quality mineral products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate underground mine equipment including miners, roof bolters, dozers, and shuttle cars
  • Monitor equipment performance to support safe and efficient production
  • Perform production support tasks such as changing miner bits, moving power cables, and hand shoveling conveyor belt tail sections
  • Complete pre-shift inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely
  • Perform preventative maintenance and equipment cleanup
  • Identify and respond to operational issues requiring adjustments or troubleshooting
  • Follow safety procedures and operational standards in an underground mining environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Minimum of 1 year of general labor and/or industrial plant experience required
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work a rotating 4×3 shift schedule, including day and night shifts
  • Ability to work safely in an underground mining environment

Physical Requirements

  • Work in an underground mining environment that may be low-height and not well lit
  • Exposure to louder-than-moderate noise from vehicles, machinery, and mining equipment
  • Wear safety attire and personal protective equipment at all times
  • Stand, walk, sit while driving, squat, talk, hear, make visual inspections, and perform precise hand and finger movements
  • Twist, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, and grasp as required
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Engage in strenuous physical activity as needed
  • Pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test required
