Job Summary
Mariana Minerals is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join its San Francisco Pilot Plant team and support the design, installation, maintenance, and improvement of first-of-its-kind refining processes for critical minerals.

This role bridges R&D and operations by helping ensure pilot plant equipment, maintenance practices, and work processes are safe, reliable, cost-effective, and suitable for future commercial production.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, including pumps, valves, piping systems, filtration units, and other process equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues to maintain safe and reliable plant operations
• Assist with fabrication, installation, modification, startup, and commissioning of new equipment and pilot plant systems
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals to support maintenance and installation work
• Safely perform maintenance activities following plant safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, hot work permitting, and confined space entry
• Identify and maintain critical spare parts for the pilot plant
• Support and champion the site Computerized Maintenance Management System
• Document maintenance activities using CMMS or maintenance tracking systems
• Support mechanical reliability, equipment readiness, and safe work execution across pilot plant operations

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, millwright work, or a related field
• 3+ years of experience maintaining industrial or pilot-scale equipment
• Experience in minerals processing, chemicals, specialty materials, oil and gas, biotech, or similar industries
• Hands-on experience with pump repair, valve replacement, and instrument troubleshooting
• Experience fabricating, modifying, or constructing industrial equipment
• Familiarity with core plant safety practices, including Lockout/Tagout, hot work permits, confined space entry, and safe work permitting systems
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including P&IDs, equipment diagrams, and mechanical layouts
• Experience documenting maintenance activities using CMMS or maintenance tracking systems
• Experience with rotating equipment, filtration systems, and industrial piping is a plus
• Ability to climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 50 pounds
