Job Summary
Intrepid Potash is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support surface operations in Moab, Utah.

This role is responsible for operating motorized heavy equipment to remove, place, harvest, and haul materials safely and accurately. The Heavy Equipment Operator supports pond harvesting, slurry pit hauling, pond repair, equipment inspections, routine maintenance, and safe field execution in an outdoor surface operations environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate motorized heavy equipment to remove, place, harvest, and haul materials
  • Harvest product from ponds and haul material to the slurry pit
  • Observe OSHA and Intrepid safety rules and policies at all times
  • Perform pre-shift inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
  • Report safety hazards to appropriate personnel
  • Work safely in extreme weather conditions
  • Read and interpret GPS information
  • Perform pond repair and maintenance as needed
  • Perform routine maintenance and check equipment fluid levels
  • Determine whether work areas are safe before beginning tasks
  • Provide and follow instructions accurately
  • Collaborate with coworkers to complete projects accurately and safely
  • Operate equipment such as front-end loaders, graders, scrapers, and other heavy equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and callouts
  • Ability to operate and control heavy equipment to complete field and construction-site tasks
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Equipment hauling experience preferred
  • Experience operating dozers, graders, excavators, backhoes, forklifts, front-end loaders, and scrapers/harvesters preferred
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or construction environment preferred
  • Positive attitude when working and communicating with others

Physical Requirements

  • Work outdoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment and unpredictable weather conditions
  • Work in extreme weather conditions as required
  • Regularly lift heavy objects of 50 lbs. or more
  • Work in confined spaces as needed
  • Potentially work at heights
  • Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
  • Wear safety attire and personal protective equipment at all times
  • Frequently stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, make visual inspections, and perform precise hand and finger movements
  • Twist, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, and grasp as required
  • Climb stairs and/or ladders and occasionally work at heights
  • Ability to perceive color differences
  • Pre-placement physical, drug test, background check, and mobility test required
