Job Summary
Hycroft Resources & Development, LLC is seeking a Senior Mine Engineer to support open pit mine planning, engineering, and surveying functions at the Hycroft gold and silver mine near Winnemucca, Nevada.

This role provides technical leadership for short-, medium-, and long-term mine planning, life-of-mine strategies, pit design, sequencing, scheduling, technical studies, economic trade-off analyses, and operational performance improvement. The Senior Mine Engineer will work closely with Operations, Geology, Processing, Maintenance, Environmental, Finance, and site leadership teams to support safe, efficient, cost-effective, and executable mine plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support for open pit mining operations
  • Develop, review, and optimize short-, medium-, and long-range mine plans
  • Support life-of-mine strategies, pit designs, sequencing, and scheduling
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning through technical analysis and cost evaluation
  • Identify opportunities to improve mine productivity, equipment utilization, operational efficiency, and resource recovery
  • Conduct engineering studies and trade-off analyses related to mine design, haulage, equipment selection, and operational improvements
  • Monitor operational performance against plan and recommend corrective actions to achieve production and cost targets
  • Collaborate with geology, operations, processing, maintenance, environmental, and finance teams to support integrated mine planning
  • Analyze production, cost, and equipment performance data to support operational decision-making
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management, corporate leadership, and external stakeholders
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to mine engineers, planners, and other technical personnel
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Use mine planning and engineering software to develop accurate designs, schedules, and operational analyses
  • Participate in strategic initiatives, capital projects, and mine expansion studies as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or equivalent required
  • 6-10 years of experience in open pit mine operations required
  • Strong background in open pit mining operations, mine design, and production optimization
  • Proficiency with mine planning and design software such as Vulcan, Micromine, or Deswik
  • Experience with budgeting, cost control, and financial evaluation of mining projects and operations
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to evaluate complex technical and operational issues
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and using data-driven approaches to improve performance
  • Familiarity with fleet management systems, dispatch systems, Trimble technologies, and AutoCAD considered an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and project management capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present technical information to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and influence decision-making across departments

Physical Requirements

  • Work in field and mine site environments, including exposure to outside weather conditions
  • Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, vibration, and moderate noise
  • Wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, steel-toed boots, and reflective visible clothing or vest
  • Use hearing protection when required in field environments
  • Must be able to wear a half-face or full-face respirator for specific job duties
  • Observe, correct, and report unsafe conditions
  • Follow operating procedures and comply with regulatory requirements
