Job Summary
Newmont is seeking a Senior Long Term Planning professional to develop and maintain long-term mine plans that align with site strategy and support safe, efficient, and value-driven open pit operations. This role focuses on Life of Mine planning, open pit mine design, scheduling, scenario analysis, reserve and resource support, budgeting alignment, and strategic planning inputs for mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Life of Mine plans, including production, infrastructure, and closure planning.
- Design optimized open pit mine phases and schedules.
- Integrate long-term planning with five-year plans and budgeting cycles.
- Conduct trade-off and scenario analysis to inform strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address technical, environmental, and economic challenges.
- Maintain reserve and resource estimates and support compliance reporting.
- Provide planning inputs to support asset management, infrastructure, and maintenance strategies.
- Communicate plans, designs, and recommendations to stakeholders for alignment and approval.
- Support alignment across technical, environmental, economic, operational, and strategic priorities.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mining Engineering.
- Experience in open pit mining operations.
- Strong expertise in mine design, scheduling, and Life of Mine planning.
- Experience with mining software such as Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight, or similar tools.
- Experience with cost modeling tools.
- Understanding of reserve and resource reporting.
- Understanding of operational value drivers.
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills to manage priorities and deliver within timelines.
Physical Requirements
- Hybrid work arrangement based near Newmont’s corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado.
- Highly qualified candidates near regional offices may also be considered.
- Collaboration with global, regional, site, service, and operational teams across multiple time zones is expected.
- Compensation may vary for candidates hired outside Colorado.
