Job Summary
MP Materials is seeking a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy mining equipment across open-pit operations.
This role focuses on diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repair of critical mobile equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy mining equipment (haul trucks, dozers, loaders, excavators)
- Perform preventative maintenance on hydraulic, engine, and powertrain systems
- Repair and replace major components (engines, transmissions, final drives, etc.)
- Troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic tools and manuals
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks
- Maintain service records and document work performed
- Coordinate maintenance activities with operations teams
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
Qualifications
– High school diploma
– 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance
Additional Experience May Include
- Experience in open-pit mining environments
- Experience with hydraulic systems and heavy machinery diagnostics
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience with diagnostic software and OEM systems
