Job Summary
Asarco is seeking a Mine Surveyor Technician to support mining operations through the collection, processing, and management of high-accuracy spatial data.

This role plays a key part in pit development, ore control, and infrastructure projects using advanced technologies such as UAV drones and LiDAR systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate UAV drones for flight planning, aerial data acquisition, and post-processing
  • Collect spatial data using UAV, LiDAR, GNSS, and total station systems
  • Stake and mark blast patterns, boundaries, and engineering features
  • Process and validate survey data using tools such as Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, and Maptek
  • Integrate survey data into mine planning systems (Hexagon MinePlan 3D)
  • Maintain survey control networks, coordinate systems, and surface models
  • Support volumetric reconciliation and compliance tracking
  • Ensure QA/QC standards and data accuracy for operational and regulatory needs
  • Maintain and calibrate survey equipment and UAV systems
  • Collaborate with geology, engineering, and operations teams

Qualifications
– Technical or university degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Mining, or related field
– 1+ years of experience in mine or construction surveying

Additional Experience May Include

  • Experience with UAV/drone operations and LiDAR systems
  • Knowledge of photogrammetry and point cloud processing
  • Experience with Pix4D, AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center
  • Familiarity with MinePlan or mine planning integration workflows
