Job Summary
Perpetua Resources is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, reliability, and optimization of mechanical systems for the Stibnite Gold Project.
This role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of process plant equipment, supporting maintenance strategies, and improving asset performance in a mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and support mechanical systems for processing plant equipment
- Provide engineering support for crushers, conveyors, pumps, mills, and ventilation systems
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to improve preventive and predictive maintenance
- Conduct root cause analysis and failure investigations
- Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications
- Select materials for various mineral processing fluids and operating conditions
- Evaluate equipment performance, wear life, and durability
- Support plant upgrades, replacements, and capital projects
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Participate in hazard assessments and safety reviews
- Provide technical support during commissioning, shutdowns, and maintenance
- Collaborate with vendors and contractors on equipment and design solutions
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 8+ years of experience in heavy industrial or process plant environments
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and power transmission
- Proficiency in CAD software and engineering documentation
- Experience in maintenance practices and reliability engineering
- Strong problem-solving skills and field experience
Additional Experience May Include
- Experience in gold or base metal processing, including flotation
- Familiarity with crushers, grinding mills, flotation systems, and pumps
- Experience with condition monitoring (vibration, oil analysis, thermography)
- Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and repair practices
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure
