Job Summary
Compass Minerals is seeking an Enterprise Mine Planner to provide strategic mine planning support across multiple operations and projects.
This role focuses on developing life-of-mine (LOM) plans, evaluating project economics, and aligning mine planning strategies with corporate objectives to maximize asset value.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Life-of-Mine (LOM) plans across multiple sites
- Support scoping, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies
- Perform mine optimization, sequencing, and phase design
- Conduct economic evaluations, sensitivity analysis, and scenario planning
- Collaborate with geology, operations, and site planning teams
- Standardize mine planning processes, tools, and reporting frameworks
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and reserve reporting
- Provide technical guidance across multiple assets
- Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership
- Evaluate CAPEX vs OPEX trade-offs in planning scenarios
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in mine engineering
- 5+ years in long-term mine planning
- Experience in corporate or multi-site mining environments
- Strong knowledge of underground mining methods
- Experience with mine planning tools (Deswik, Vulcan or similar)
- Strong analytical and economic modeling skills
- Ability to travel 30–50%
Additional Experience May Include
- Experience in portfolio optimization
- Financial modeling and project evaluation
- Knowledge of SEC S-K 1300 or reporting standards
- Experience with Power BI and advanced Excel
