Job Summary
Talon Metals Corp is seeking a Superintendent, Human Resources to serve as the site-based HR leader at Tamarack. This role partners closely with site leadership and employees to support workforce planning, employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, performance management, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and the overall employee experience in an operational mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and support to supervisors and direct reports for effective daily execution.
- Promote teamwork, communication, and alignment across shifts and crews.
- Coach supervisors in leadership, planning, and performance management.
- Recognize and reinforce desired behaviors and cultural standards.
- Encourage innovation, ownership, and employee participation in problem-solving.
- Maintain effective two-way communication between front-line teams and site leadership.
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership across site operations.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to site leadership on employee relations, leadership effectiveness, and workforce planning.
- Lead employee relations matters including investigations, conflict resolution, and performance issues.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture.
- Oversee end-to-end recruiting for site roles.
- Support onboarding and integration of new employees.
- Guide leaders through performance management processes including goal setting, coaching, feedback, and corrective action.
- Conduct and oversee payroll processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Administer employee benefits and support employees and leaders with benefits-related questions.
- Partner with corporate and shared services teams on HR program execution.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Support HR and labor compliance audits, investigations, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee records and protect the confidentiality and integrity of HR data.
Qualifications
- Seven to ten years of progressive Human Resources experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
- Experience in an operational or industrial environment required.
- Experience in mining, manufacturing, construction, energy, or another heavy industrial environment strongly preferred.
- Proven experience leading employee relations in a complex, site-based workforce.
- Experience with investigations, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Hands-on experience with recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, and HR compliance.
- Strong working knowledge of employment and labor laws, HR best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with front-line leaders and senior site leadership.
- Experience supporting a safety-first culture in an operational environment.
- Ability to maintain a visible presence across site operations and build trust with employees and leaders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
