Job Summary
Ausenco is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support execution-phase projects in the North American mining industry.
This role will contribute to critical project phases, including due diligence investigations, front-end studies such as PEA, PFS, and FS, basic engineering, and detailed engineering for construction across a variety of mineral commodities.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to multidisciplinary engineering design by coordinating with other engineering disciplines, internal teams, and clients
- Support the preparation and delivery of engineering deliverables
- Interact with and contribute to the global Ausenco process team
- Stay current with the latest process technology developments
- Apply innovation and lean thinking to process design work
- Develop and manage process scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and project deliverables
- Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and compliance standards
- Conduct process hazard analyses including HAZOP and LOPA
- Support process safety systems design
- Contribute to regulatory documentation including NI 43-101 and S-K 1300 reports
- Support proposal development, bid strategies, and client presentations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
- Professional Engineer license required, open to any U.S. state license
- 10+ years of experience in front-end studies, trade-off evaluations, and detailed design projects related to mineral processing
- Experience in consulting engineering environments
- Preferred experience in comminution, pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, ion exchange, solvent extraction, or filtration plant design
- Experience with critical minerals, rare earth elements, precious metals, base metals, or battery metals processing preferred
- Experience with metallurgical simulation software such as METSIM, SysCAD, or Aspen Plus
- Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to develop engineering solutions
- Field experience in construction, commissioning, or operations is beneficial
- Willingness to travel when required
