Job Summary
Asarco is seeking a Senior Geologist to lead geological interpretation, grade control modeling, and ore characterization at the Ray Complex.

This role serves as a key technical authority, integrating geology with mine planning and metallurgical performance to optimize ore recovery and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain grade control models and ore/waste classification for mill and leach operations
  • Generate and validate dig polygons and material routing strategies based on grade and mineralization
  • Conduct and oversee pit mapping, logging, and sampling programs
  • Maintain and update 3D geological models (Leapfrog or similar)
  • Lead grade reconciliation (F1–F3) and variance analysis across models and plant performance
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in geological predictions and operational outcomes
  • Collaborate with metallurgy to integrate geometallurgical parameters into planning
  • Support Mine-to-Mill initiatives and process optimization
  • Ensure compliance with SEC SK-1300 and best practices in geological reporting
  • Mentor and supervise geologists and technicians
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and environmental teams

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field
– 5+ years of experience in open-pit mine geology

Additional Experience May Include

  • Experience in porphyry copper systems
  • Proficiency with Leapfrog Geo, MinePlan, Vulcan, or similar
  • Strong understanding of grade control, reconciliation, and geometallurgy
  • Experience with QA/QC programs and geological data management
