Job Summary
Asarco is seeking a Sr. Corporate Long Range Engineer to lead strategic mine planning and long-term value optimization across operations.

This role is responsible for developing Life-of-Mine (LOM) plans, conducting economic evaluations, and aligning technical planning with business strategy and capital investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Life-of-Mine (LOM) plans integrating resource models, costs, and geotechnical constraints
  • Conduct pit optimization, pushback design, and phase sequencing to maximize NPV
  • Build long-term mine schedules using tools such as MinePlan and MPSO
  • Develop and maintain cost models including haulage, drill & blast, and capital expenditures
  • Perform cutoff grade optimization and economic trade-off studies (DCF, scenario analysis)
  • Integrate geotechnical, hydrological, and geometallurgical inputs into mine plans
  • Design haulage routes, waste dumps, leach pads, and infrastructure sequencing
  • Translate long-range strategies into actionable multi-year plans and forecasts
  • Support regulatory reporting (SEC SK-1300), permitting, and business case development
  • Collaborate with geology, finance, and operations teams to align planning assumptions and KPIs
  • Participate in strategic initiatives such as pit expansion, infrastructure optimization, and capital projects

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field
– 8+ years of experience in open pit mine planning

Additional Experience May Include

  • Experience in long-range or strategic mine planning
  • Proficiency in MinePlan, MPSO, Whittle, and optimization tools
  • Knowledge of financial modeling and DCF analysis
  • Experience with geotechnical, hydrological, and geometallurgical integration
  • Strong understanding of SEC SK-1300 and reserve reporting
