Job Summary
South32 is seeking a Project Engineer – Construction (Concentrator) to support the execution of construction activities at the Hermosa Project.
This role focuses on coordinating contractors, ensuring construction quality, and supporting the delivery of mining infrastructure projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee construction activities and contractor performance
Ensure compliance with engineering designs and project standards
Coordinate construction planning, scheduling, and reporting
Support safety, environmental, and quality compliance
Assist with project budgeting, cost tracking, and reporting
Review construction schedules and contractor progress
Support risk assessments and change management processes
Coordinate materials, vendors, and site services
Provide technical support to construction and commissioning teams
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 6+ years of experience in mining or large-scale construction projects
- Strong knowledge of construction and engineering practices
- Experience managing contractors and project execution
- Understanding of project management tools (cost, schedule, quality)
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Additional Experience May Include
- Experience with mining infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with BIM systems
- Experience with environmental compliance and regulatory standards
