Job Summary
MP Materials is seeking a Procurement Supervisor to lead the Procure-to-Pay cycle, local sourcing, and a dedicated procurement team at its Mountain Pass operation. This role supports daily plant purchasing, capital expansion projects, supplier management, cost reduction, SAP/ERP discipline, procurement workflow optimization, and cross-functional coordination across Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Capital Projects, and Legal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate a team of buyers and procurement professionals.
  • Establish daily priorities and assign category and project workloads.
  • Lead supplier management activities and negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses to drive measurable cost savings while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Manage the end-to-end Procure-to-Pay cycle and ensure accurate SAP and ERP transactions.
  • Maintain procurement data integrity and support efficient P2P execution.
  • Enforce timely purchase order creation and expediting standards to reduce procurement backlogs.
  • Coordinate across departments to troubleshoot purchasing and supplier discrepancies.
  • Support daily plant purchasing and procurement for large capital expansion projects.
  • Apply total lifecycle cost analysis to procurement decisions.
  • Support commercial contract compliance and flow-down contract provisions.
  • Use procurement technologies and data analytics to improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage procurement KPIs.
  • Serve as a change leader and drive continuous improvement across procurement processes.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Capital Projects, Legal, and external partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of progressive commercial purchasing, project procurement, or supply chain experience.
  • Experience in industrial, mining, refining, or petrochemical processing environments required.
  • Minimum three years of direct supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Experience managing purchasing specialists, buyers, or expeditors required.
  • Experience managing teams of at least three people required; five or more preferred.
  • Proficiency with ERP and MRP systems, with SAP experience required.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of Procure-to-Pay principles and commercial contract terms.
  • Experience with total lifecycle cost analysis.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety and governance standards.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • CPSM or equivalent certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed at an open pit mine or manufacturing and chemical plant environment at approximately 4,700 feet elevation.
  • May be exposed to extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, and wind.
  • Work environments may include moving mechanical equipment, chemicals, electrical hazards, explosives, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Personal Protective Equipment is required in mine, manufacturing, outdoor, and plant environments.
  • Must be able to pass a full-face respirator fit test and work in PPE Level C.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Role may require standing, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
