Job Summary
AngloGold Ashanti is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to support the design, construction, and maintenance of electrical systems across mining and processing operations.

This role combines technical leadership and hands-on support to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient electrical infrastructure and systems performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and review of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems, substations, and MCCs
  • Manage control systems including PLC, SCADA, and automation networks
  • Conduct Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Protection Coordination studies
  • Support project execution across design, construction, and commissioning phases
  • Coordinate with contractors and project teams on electrical scope delivery
  • Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance plans
  • Perform root cause analysis on electrical failures and incidents
  • Support electrical troubleshooting across plant and mine operations
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, MSHA, and OSHA standards
  • Contribute to safety audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
– 6–8 years of experience in mining or heavy industrial electrical engineering

Additional Experience May Include

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or eligibility
  • Experience with power distribution systems (HV/MV/LV)
  • Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and process control systems
  • Experience with AutoCAD and project management tools
