Job Summary
Intrepid Potash is seeking a Plant Operator to support surface operations at its North Plant in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

This role is responsible for operating and monitoring industrial plant equipment, supporting safe and efficient production, maintaining environmental requirements, completing inspections, performing basic maintenance, and assisting with shift reporting and control room coverage as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure the reliability of industrial plant equipment including belt conveyors, pumps, screw conveyors, product elevators, and product screens
• Maintain environmental requirements by monitoring dust emissions, scrubber flow, and pressure readings
• Operate plant equipment including skid steers, forklifts, and front-end loaders
• Perform pre-shift inspections to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
• Perform preventative maintenance and equipment cleanup
• Report safety hazards to appropriate personnel
• Complete end-of-shift reports
• Answer phones and send shift reports by email
• Perform basic maintenance on plant equipment
• Fill in as control room operator as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid driver’s license required
• Minimum of 1 year of general labor and/or industrial plant experience required
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to make adjustments and address operational issues during shift
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts
• Ability to work safely in surface plant operations

Physical Requirements

• Work outdoors in a non-temperature-controlled environment and under varying weather conditions
• Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
• Wear safety attire and personal protective equipment at all times
• Stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, make visual inspections, and perform precise hand and finger movements
• Twist, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, and grasp as required
• Lift up to 50 lbs. and push or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Climb stairs and/or ladders and potentially work at heights
• Ability to perceive color differences
• Engage in strenuous physical activity as needed
• Pre-placement physical and hair follicle drug test required
