Job Summary
Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a Mining Engineer to support mine planning, reserve estimation, and operational performance across multiple sites.
This role focuses on developing mine plans, analyzing geologic and operational data, and supporting compliance while driving efficiency and long-term mine development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 3D mine plans and mining/stripping schedules using geologic and operational data
- Analyze land use information including property lines, zoning, and site constraints
- Maintain life-of-mine plans, maps, aerial photos, and reserve documentation
- Monitor mine development and identify current and future operational challenges
- Support compliance with permits, regulations, and operational guidelines
- Prepare technical reports, maps, presentations, and documentation
- Estimate stripping volumes and assist with bid package preparation
- Participate in zoning efforts, land use planning, and property-related projects
- Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and reserve recovery
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
– 5+ years of experience in mining engineering, geology, or operations preferred
- Strong knowledge of mining engineering and geologic concepts
- Understanding of federal, state, and local mining regulations
- Ability to develop mine plans and perform reserve estimations
- Proficiency in 3D-CAD, Excel, Carlson, or similar software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently
