Job Summary
South32 is seeking a Metallurgist to support the design, commissioning, and operation of the Hermosa Project processing plant.

This role focuses on metallurgical testwork, process optimization, and supporting the development of processing facilities and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support geometallurgical testwork and data analysis
  • Provide input into processing plant design and infrastructure
  • Evaluate processing technologies and support engineering reviews
  • Participate in plant commissioning and operations readiness
  • Develop SOPs for plant and laboratory operations
  • Train operators, technicians, and metallurgical staff
  • Monitor process performance and develop KPIs
  • Analyze metallurgical data and prepare technical reports
  • Support process improvement projects and cross-functional teams

Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, or related Engineering

  • 3+ years of experience in mineral processing or plant operations
  • Knowledge of comminution, flotation, and solid-liquid separation
  • Ability to analyze process data and support plant performance
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong safety and environmental awareness

Additional Experience May Include

  • Experience with METSIM, JKSimMet, or SysCAD
  • Exposure to plant design and engineering deliverables
  • Experience with process control systems
  • Ability to read PFDs and P&IDs
