Job Summary
Equinox Gold is seeking a Metallurgist to provide technical expertise through accurate production data analysis and support the optimization of metallurgical processes.

This role supports gold and silver allocation, accounting compliance, heap leach performance monitoring, assay and metallurgical laboratory oversight, process improvement, and technical guidance for laboratory and operations personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze production data to support metallurgical process optimization
  • Ensure proper metallurgical allocation of gold and silver
  • Support compliance with accounting standards related to metallurgical reporting
  • Monitor heap leach performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Work closely with process operations and ore control teams
  • Oversee assay and metallurgical laboratory activities
  • Collaborate with other departments to support environmental and safety compliance
  • Identify and report process issues and recommend improvements
  • Mentor laboratory personnel in metallurgical methodologies
  • Deliver training and maintain QA/QC documentation for assay and metallurgical work
  • Issue weekly reports on ongoing metallurgical testing
  • Provide technical guidance to CIC supervisors and operators on metal recovery processes
  • Adapt to new process conditions resulting from upstream technological changes
  • Work with the Process Superintendent to ensure metallurgical samples meet required parameters
  • Maintain organized operating data to help predict and prevent processing issues
  • Recommend continuous improvement initiatives that reduce costs or enhance revenue

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering preferred
  • 1-5 years of metallurgical experience in a production minerals laboratory
  • Experience with heap leaching and gold recovery circuits strongly preferred
  • Solid background in mineral processing
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining fire assay and solution assay laboratories
  • Experience with laboratory equipment, metallurgical procedures, and quality control practices
  • Ability to support budgeting, set priorities, and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to promote safety, environmental awareness, and technical development of direct reports
