Job Summary
Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Geotechnical Superintendent to oversee tailings and heap leach facilities at its Carlin operations. This role focuses on ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient design, construction, operation, and monitoring of critical mining infrastructure.
You will lead technical evaluations, risk management strategies, and ensure adherence to global tailings standards while supporting site teams and engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
Review site investigations, engineering designs, and construction specifications for tailings and heap leach facilities
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and global tailings management standards
Support dam safety inspections, reviews, and implementation of recommendations
Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
Monitor facility performance and ensure alignment with design intent
Coordinate with engineering, environmental, and operations teams
Manage consultants and technical reviews
Support standardization of engineering practices across operations
Mentor and develop engineering teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological, Civil, or Mining Engineering required
- Professional Engineer (PE) designation preferred
- Strong experience in geotechnical or civil engineering in mining
- Knowledge of tailings and heap leach facility design and operation required
- 10+ years of experience in mining or related industry preferred
- Strong understanding of regulatory and environmental compliance
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Additional experience may include:
- Experience with dam safety and tailings governance frameworks
- Experience with large-scale mining infrastructure projects
- Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams
