Job Summary
Perpetua Resources is seeking an Environmental Scientist II to support stormwater management, regulatory compliance, and environmental monitoring for the Stibnite Gold Project.
This role focuses on ensuring compliance with environmental permits, managing SWPPP and SPCC programs, and supporting construction and operational environmental performance in a remote mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage MSGP and Construction General Permits (CGPs) ensuring compliance
- Oversee and update Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
- Manage and coordinate SPCC plan inspections and updates
- Perform field inspections of erosion and sediment control systems
- Maintain regulatory documentation and reporting accuracy
- Collaborate with contractors, technicians, and multidisciplinary teams
- Install, operate, and maintain environmental monitoring equipment
- Analyze environmental data and ensure compliance with regulations
- Evaluate environmental risks and develop mitigation programs
- Support environmental audits and compliance inspections
- Review and maintain environmental records and reports
- Oversee contractors to ensure Best Management Practices (BMP)
- Support hazardous waste management and spill response activities
- Participate in environmental compliance, remediation, and reclamation projects
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance within mining or construction
- Experience with SWPPP, SPCC, and stormwater management programs
- Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA safety standards
- Experience working in remote or industrial environments
- Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills
Additional Experience May Include
- Experience with NPDES, CERCLA, or RCRA regulations
- Experience with environmental monitoring systems and data analysis
- Experience supervising field teams or contractors
- Background in hydrology, geotechnical, or environmental engineering work
