Job Summary
Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Chief Metallurgist to support the Phoenix operation in Battle Mountain, Nevada.

This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the assigned process area, including operating budget management, metallurgical accounting, plant performance improvement, technical review, QA standards, and leadership of technical staff and metallurgical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee safe and efficient operation of the assigned process area
  • Manage and develop the operating budget for the assigned process area
  • Provide timely solutions and data to support understanding and improvement of plant performance
  • Review proposed designs and test plans for conformance with contract requirements
  • Analyze test data for accuracy and consistency
  • Review and edit reports including evaluation plans and technical program plans
  • Ensure documentation generation, release, and maintenance follow company and contractual requirements
  • Ensure accurate metallurgical allocation of gold and silver
  • Maintain compliance with metallurgical accounting standards
  • Review and execute metallurgical accounting portions of ore and carbon processing contracts
  • Inspect, certify, and evaluate onsite operational systems and design modifications as required
  • Maintain quality assurance standards
  • Create and support a productive, cohesive technical team environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering required
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a specialty area required
  • Experience supervising an engineering area or managing projects preferred
  • Solid working knowledge of operations and key production drivers
  • In-depth understanding of gold pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy
  • Experience with experimental design required
  • Six Sigma and Design of Experiments experience preferred
  • Experience supervising technical staff required
  • Experience presenting and publishing high-quality technical work required
  • Proven ability to lead innovative projects from conception through design
  • Knowledge of metallurgical accounting practices and procedures
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license required
