Job Summary
Barrick Mining Corporation is seeking a US Regional Exploration Safety, Health & Security Specialist to support exploration activities across the United States.

This role is responsible for establishing, governing, and continuously improving Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental, and Community policies, standards, and management systems for U.S. exploration operations. The specialist will partner with exploration leadership to manage critical risks, strengthen safety culture, support regulatory compliance, and protect Barrick’s license to operate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for integrated safety, health, environmental, and community programs
  • Partner with Exploration leadership to manage critical risks and reduce the likelihood of incidents
  • Support fatality and serious incident prevention across U.S. exploration activities
  • Ensure compliance with corporate Safety and Health standards and applicable OSHA, MSHA, federal, state, and local regulations
  • Lead implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of the Exploration Occupational Health & Safety Management System
  • Plan, lead, and participate in Management Assurance Reviews, internal audits, and field-based safety inspections
  • Oversee Fatal Risk Management processes and Life-Saving Controls for exploration and contractor activities
  • Promote a proactive safety culture focused on visible leadership, risk awareness, and incident-free performance
  • Design, implement, and deliver safety leadership, emergency response, and risk management training
  • Review, analyze, and report safety and health performance metrics, trends, and leading indicators
  • Ensure exploration activities comply with corporate Environmental standards and applicable U.S. environmental regulations
  • Lead implementation and monitoring of Environmental Management System requirements for exploration activities
  • Oversee identification, assessment, and management of environmental aspects and impacts
  • Support permitting, baseline studies, and environmental risk assessments for exploration projects
  • Lead or support investigations of environmental incidents, near misses, and corrective actions
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and preventive action plans
  • Lead occupational health programs including industrial hygiene, health surveillance, fatigue management, and preventive health initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field required
  • College or professional certification with significant Health and Safety experience may be considered
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Safety, Health, Environment, or Social Performance roles within mining, exploration, or heavy industry preferred
  • Experience supporting exploration or remote field-based operations preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. regulatory frameworks including OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and state environmental regulations preferred
  • Proven ability to influence leaders, multidisciplinary teams, and contractors preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and risk management skills
  • High personal commitment to safety leadership and values-based performance
  • Eligible to live and work in the United States
  • Fluent English reading, writing, and communication skills required

  • Work in environments requiring strong adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
